I chose this picture because it evokes a sense of a journey, with the hope that our therapeutic journey together will take you to a better place, a place where you can manage the ups and downs of life in a way that is fulfilling for you.
When we are considering getting help, sometimes we are not sure of what troubles us, many people come to me not knowing what their problem is. That is ok. I have a natural ability to understand what lies beneath my clients' issues and we will get straight to the core of what is happening. I will help you to reflect and clarify where you are now, identify the fears that keep you stuck and work towards what you want, you don't have to do it alone.
I will ask you to actively explore yourself, concentrating on aspects of your physical functioning - and also dreams, fantasies, memories, images and thoughts - until what seems old and familiar will become alive and vibrant again, pushing you to your boundary. It is there that growth happens and the perspective on yourself and the world around you shifts, letting you see new possibilities and a wider range of choices, where the limits of your old self meet the possibilities of your emerging self.
As a therapist, I'm committed to helping you to rediscover your strengths and resilience, and to cultivate a deeper sense of purpose and meaning in your life. My approach is unique because it is rooted in the Gestalt Therapy understanding that we are the product of the interaction with our environment. Think of it like this: our bodies, minds, and spirits are not separate from the world around us, but are actually deeply connected to the air we breathe, the food we eat, the people we interact with, and the spaces we inhabit. Those things impact us and we impact them back, in an ongoing dance that shapes who we are and how we experience the world. This means that our physical health, emotional resilience, and mental clarity are intertwined, and that by addressing the root causes of imbalance, we can foster profound healing and transformation.
My interest in psychotherapy was sparked by my own life experiences and challenges. Through a journey that fostered change, healing, growth and restored hope, I was able to become the person I wanted to be.
I have developed a deep understanding of the complex issues that can cause problems in everyday life including depression, anxiety , addiction, abandonment, self harm, suicidal thoughts, existential meaningless, spirituality longing, panic attacks, relationships issues, bereavement and loss, coping with abuse, cultural challenges, ADHD related issues, crisis and trauma.
While these issues may manifest as mental health problems, the root causes may not be solely mental in nature. The body's physiological, biochemical, and environmental factors can contribute to the development of mental health issues. For example, research has shown that gut health plays a crucial role in mental health, with the gut-brain axis influencing mood, cognitive function, and behaviour. Similarly, hormonal imbalances, inflammation, and lifestyle factors such as diet, exercise, and sleep can also impact mental health. My practice is in Barnsbury, N1, North London, only a few minutes away from the Victoria, Piccadilly and Mildmay lines.
